We took our time getting ready. We stopped in Logan on the way down for bait. The trip took about an hour and a half. When we got to the lodge, our key was hanging with a card. So we went down to the cabin. We got the one we wanted. We unpacked and made dinner. We took a hike that about killed Dave and I.
We woke up and went to pay for the cabin. We also checked the lodge out. The kids went to the little store to get candy. We put more things away and waited for Wilbur and Jacob. They arrived in time for lunch. Then we headed to the lake. I stayed with the kids and read while the men went on the boat. Then we came back and had a nice chicken dinner on the grill. We ate inside though because it was so hot. Then we did marshmellows over a campfire. The four kids told ghost stories in bed.
The guys went fishing bright and early. They came back to cabin for a huge breakfast. And the smoke alarm going off in cabin. My big griddle just smokes. Then it was back to the lake for fishing and swimming. We made dinner. Then it was time for Wilbur and Jacob to leave. We went to the Moonville Tunnel. It was pretty neat. We had been there before. It was nice hike. Then we took a long drive. We came back to cabin for a game and some Jiffy Pop.
After breakfast we took the kids to the nature center. That days lesson was Survivor. They learned ways to survive in the woods if they got lost. The played games, made a shelter and hiked. Ranger Dave and Tony were pretty cool. We tagged along with them. We did lunch then went back to lake to fish and swim. Then headed back to make dinner. We went back to the lake that evening. Thats the night I caught a 9 inch bluegill at the point. We made elephant ears and watched tv.
While the kids were doing the junior naturalist program, we fished. Then we went back and cooked the kids lunch. They opted to rest while we went to do laundry. Dinner, fishing and swimming finished the night off. We watched a scary movie we had rented.
After Jen did the nature program we headed off to McArthur. We went to the bank and got ice cream at our special pizza place. We also found a cute shop and got mom a bird house for her kitchen. We found the fireworks location and decided the festival was too small. So we headed over to Nelsonville. We drove around and found a awesome place for dinner. I had been there before. They had a 12 page menu. We all were in awe. It was awesome food. Its called something like The Coffee Cup. It is a log place on 33 before you hit Nelsonville. After that we headed home and fished. Dave made baked apples for dessert.
We got up early hit the lake. Dave and I rented a boat. The kids swam. We went to the nature center and Buzzard cave. Dave and I had a romantic lunch in the Stone Terrace in the lodge. We hung out a bit then made dinner. We went up to the lodge to watch the NASCAR race on the big screen. We had the place to ourselves. It was great. The ranger came in half way and told us we could stay until race was over. He came back and watched the last few laps with us. We made baked apples and started packing.
We got up early, packed and ate. Then loaded the van. Mommy cried alot. Daddy took the key back and we took one last ride through the park. Mommy cried more. Then we headed to Logan to play putt putt at Remples Grove. That was fun! We had McDonalds then headed home.
